Calcasieu River flooding in Region 4
Streamflow Situation from the network of monitoring stations of the US Geological Survey
Calcasieu River is running approximately five inches over the channel near Glenmora, the flooding of the upper channel got going again yesterday morning around 530 am after six days reprieve. Downstream near Kinder, the Calcasieu River appears to be in major flood stage, provisional data indicating more than eight feet over flood stage, to be confirmed.
According to National Weather Service flood terminology, major flood stage indicates "Extensive flooding of structures, main roadways, and other critical infrastructure may occur. Schools, hospitals, police stations, fire stations, residences, businesses, and roadways may become flooded. Evacuations may be necessary. Significant disruptions to daily life."

Most flood occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Turn around, don`t drown!
Flooding continues in Bossier Parish, watershed Region 1, Bayou Dorcheat running a foot above minor flood stage near Springhill. We reported yesterday the flow trend was slowing, we had expected to see peak flow by yesterday afternoon. That is no longer the case, the water level continues to rise steadily. More rain in the forecast is likely to perpetuate the flooding conditions in the northwest.
Mostly cloudy, 52F in New Orleans/Baton Rouge with a 40 percent chance of showers coming after the noon hour, high 65. There is a slight chance of showers this evening before 7pm, increasing to 50% chance for showers with thunderstorms tomorrow. A severe thunderstorm is possible. It is overcast, 41 degrees at Shreveport, becoming partly sunny with a high of 56. A 50% chance of showers forecast for this evening, with thunderstorms also possible after 3am. Tomorrow during the day, up to three quarters of an inch of rain expected. There may be a thunderstorm as well, the wind southwest with gusts up to 25 mph.
