Flood Update from USGS real-time streamflow monitoring stations throughout Louisiana
Three USGS monitoring stations are recording flooding Monday. Pearl River is still flowing half a foot over flood stage at Pearl River in Region 7.

Bayou Bodcau is down three inches over the last twenty four hours, currently running six feet and three inches over flood stage.

Region 4 Sabine River is down slightly, the sensors show this location four inches over flood stage, USGS has been asked to confirm provisional data. More to follow.

Check black tags on the map for flood levels, provisional data courtesy of the USGS streamflow sensors placed into LA rivers, bogues and bayous.

Drought Map from USGS 7-day average streamflows compared to historic averages
Region 7 Tangipahoa watershed remains in severe drought depth Monday with adjacent area to the immediate east and west rated below normal. The west side of Region 7 remains at moderate drought.

Region 1 Caddo Parish remains at moderate drought Monday. Saline Bayou channel remains below normal. East into Region 3, east Morehouse, all of West Carroll, Richland and Franklin Parishes are rated below normal again. South into Region 4, the Sabine River channel is still rated below normal, and Sabine River is still presumed flooding near Ruliff, TX. The streamflow gage is sending new digits today, confirmation of the flooding has been requested from the Water Science Center. More to follow. An area of the Upper Calcasieu River is rated below normal, taking up most of Vernon and the northeast corner of Beauregard Parish.

HAB Update from National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science
The latest sat photo from NCCOS was taken Feb 25 at wind speed 4.1 mph. This image is completely clear, unobstructed view of all of southeast Louisiana water bodies.

Lake Pontchartain, Lake Maurepas, Lake Verret, Lake Palourde all appear clear of HAB activity.

Lac des Allemands and Bayou Fortier each have an open water HAB looking to be 100 thousand cells per 100 ml.

Lake Cataouache, Lake Salvador and Lake Lery appear clear. Inland water bodies of Black Bay still have the same appearance of widespread high concentration HABs 800 to 900 thousand cells per 100 ml.

Note WaterToday reports day-to-day changes recorded by USGS streamflow monitors on rivers and tributaries located in Louisiana, along with monitors upstream in the Mississippi River basin: Ohio, Georgia and southwest New York state. USGS creates a drought map from 7-day average streamflow readings, by comparing the average with the historic weekly normal flow value for each location. The drought ratings are below normal, moderate hydrologic drought, severe drought and extreme drought.

USGS Provisional Data Statement
Data are provisional and subject to revision until they have been thoroughly reviewed and received final approval. Current condition data relayed by satellite or other telemetry are automatically screened to not display improbable values until they can be verified.
Provisional data may be inaccurate due to instrument malfunctions or physical changes at the measurement site. Subsequent review based on field inspections and measurements may result in significant revisions to the data.
Data users are cautioned to consider carefully the provisional nature of the information before using it for decisions that concern personal or public safety or the conduct of business that involves substantial monetary or operational consequences. Information concerning the accuracy and appropriate uses of these data or concerning other hydrologic data may be obtained from the USGS.
