Tangipahoa River levels back to normal range, drought relief for Tangipahoa Parish

Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS streamflow gauges in Louisiana
Streamflows run normal to high statewide Monday including the perennially low flow Tangipahoa River at Robert, today registering normal at the 37th percentile and lifting the drought off Tangipahoa Parish for the first time in months. An area of severe drought remains in a narrow band along the Tensas River channel, another track of Region 3 running below normal through Union, Ouachita and Caldwell Parishes. No extreme high flows or flooding occurring in the reference network, no low flows.

WT HAB Tracker from the satellite monitoring program of National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS)
The latest image of Lake Pontchartrain and the southeast water bodies is dated Sep 15, taken at a wind speed 4.7 mph, too cloud obscured to visualize any bluegreen. A prior clear image taken September 14 shows widespread HAB 600 thousand cells per ml in the west increasing over on the east shore with a hot spot 2 million cells per ml. Bayou Fortier widespread HAB runs 600 thousand cells per ml. Lakes Pontchartrain and Maurepas are clear of HABs, or concentration is too low to detect. Lake Verret lakewide HAB runs 1 to 2 million cells per ml. See the latest LA HAB Tracker report, here.
