Bluegreen lakewide in Lac des Allemands and Bayou Fortier
Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS streamflow gauges in Louisiana
Sunny and clear with a high of 88 Sunday, another night of patchy fog expected for New Orleans. A disturbance in the Caribbean Sea may develop this week, more to follow.
A mix of normal and below normal streamflows persists throughout Louisiana, record low ratings apply in watershed Region 4. Bayou Macon - Tensas River valley continues in extreme drought with adjacent surface area east to the Mississippi escalated to severe drought. West of the Bayou Macon - Tensas River strip, moderate drought continues to grip east Union, west Morehouse, Ouachita, Winn, Grant and LaSalle Parishes. Sabine River channel remains below normal from north to south passing through Region 4 watershed including south-central Sabine, west Vernon, Beauregard and Calcasieu Parishes. Region 5 is rated below normal through Acadia and Evangeline Parishes, extending to St Marys Parish on the coast and Tangipahoa Parish in Region 7.
As of this report, there are no high flows or active floods, a first percentile extreme low is again registering in Bayou Toro near Toro in Region 4 watershed.

The latest image of Louisiana southeast water bodies is clear, captured Oct 26 at 8.1 mph. Lac des Allemands and Bayou Fortier lakewide HABs remain at the high concentration 800 thousand cells per ml. Lake Boeuf stands out with extreme high concentration lakewide HAB 2 to 3 million cells per ml. According to the Program head for the NOAA early detection HAB monitoring program, wherever HABs are visible with the satellite imaging equipment, it is wise to assume there are cyanotoxins. State health authorities can then use this information to determine where to sample for the toxicity testing. Lakes Verret and Palourde lakewide bluegreen blooms 800 to 900 thousand cells per ml. Black Bay remains full of bluegreen at 700 to 800 thousand cells per ml. Lakes Pontchartrain and Maurepas appear clear of HAB. See the latest satellite image of southeast LA water bodies, here.
Safe Drinking Water Advisories
St. Martin Parish: St. Martinville has had a full system-wide shut down for emergency repairs Thursday. Once the service is restored, all customers are under BWA until further notice. City of St Martinville Water System serves 7575 people from a groundwater source. More to follow.
Richland Parish: Delhi issued a BWA Thursday following repairs made in part of the distribution system. This boil order applies to customers south of Interstate 20 and east of Mid Valley Road until further notice. Delhi Water Supply serves 4071 customers from a groundwater source in Region 3 watershed.
