Emergency water line repairs in Shreveport, water system shutdown in Estherwood and a water leak in Vivian prompt new BWAs
Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Caddo Parish: Shreveport Water System is reported to be under a boil advisory following emergency repairs yesterday, apparently impacting University Park area until further notice. More to follow as we seek clarification from Shreveport Water officials. An update to the recent taste and odor issue has been released by the City, Feb 3: "The chemical needed to treat the water arrived last week and the initial treatment of Cross Lake began then. Customers should be noticing the odor and/or taste of their water improving."
Caddo Parish: The Town of Vivian has issued a boil water advisory for customers on North Pine Street, Camp Vivian Road, Milner Street, and Lawton Street. According to a statement released to the press, "The Town of Vivian Water System has experienced problems with our water supply system due to a water leak on the north side of town. Because of these problems, the water produced by our water supply system is of questionable microbiological quality. Therefore, the Town of Vivian Water System is issuing a boil order effective immediately.
The boil order is to include all water customers located in the 1100 to 1800 blocks of North Pine Street, and all of Camp Vivian Road, Milner Street and Lawton Street. This order is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Town of Vivian Water System."
Acadia Parish: The Village of Estherwood experienced a water system shutdown yesterday. A boil water advisory goes into effect once water service is restored. Village of Estherwood Water System supplies 855 residential customers with potable water from a groundwater well source in watershed Region 5. Estherwood is recognized with one violation in the last three years, a breach of treatment technique for Groundwater Rule in 2022, since resolved.
US EPA has released the latest quarterly reporting audit of US drinking water facilities compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act.
