Watershed Region 5: Acadia Parish Drinking Water Facilities
Thirteen public drinking water facilities are licensed to supply potable water to 59,307 people residing in Acadia Parish. The facilities operate with Louisiana state permits under the US EPA Safe Drinking Water Act regulation. Government owned-and-operated utilities and private utilities in Acadia Parish are inspected by Louisiana Dept of Health, all facilities are sourced with groundwater wells in Region 5 watershed:
- City of Rayne Water System serving 7722 residents
- Crowley Water System (LAWCO) serving 17733 residents
- Dollar General 30170 Water System serving 25
- Egan Water, serving 5358 persons
- Egan Water Corp #2, serving 2835 residents
- Mire Branch Water Corporation, serving 9147 population
- North of Crowley Water Corporation, serving 3894
- South Rayne Water Corporation, suppling 4125 people
- Town of Church Point Water System, that's 4176 people here
- Town of Iota Water System, population 1860
- Village of Estherwood Water System, 855 people
- Village of Mermentau Water System, 771 people
- Village of Morse Water System, supplying 806 souls

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Rapides Parish: City of Alexandria Water System issued a Boil Water advisory for water customers that experienced a loss of pressure in a main water line last week, Friday Feb 14. City of Alexandria provides drinking water to 66,798 residents from a groundwater well source in the upper drainage area of watershed Region 5. The facility has a perfect compliance record with the SDWA, according to the EPA, at least as far as the end of Sep, 2024.
The Safe Drinking Water Act protects public health through the administration and delivery of quality drinking water supplies across the USA. The US EPA establishes standards for drinking water, monitors and enforces treatment techniques for surface water and groundwater, sets maximum limits for around 100 contaminants ensuring public disclosure of deviations and discrepancies.
WaterToday opens the record books of the federal drinking water regulator to bring awareness to the local raw water supply and the compliance record of licensed water treatment facilities. Public water systems provide water for human consumption to at least 15 service connections or 25 average people per day for at least 60 days per year.
