Flood Update from USGS real-time streamflow monitoring stations throughout Louisiana
Calcasieu River flooding ended around 930 pm last night near Glenmora. The watershed Region 4 river is currently running three quarters of a foot below flood stage and declining.

Bayou Bodcau is down half a foot overnight, currently seven and a half feet over flood stage near Shreveport, still on a declining trend.

Region 4 Sabine River is holding a steady level six inches above flood stage near Ruliff, TX.

Pearl River flow is slowly receding near Bogalusa, currently running less than two feet past flood stage. The water level at Pearl River held steady overnight, appears to have peaked and looking to start coming down Thursday.

Check black tags on the map for flood levels, provisional data courtesy of the USGS streamflow sensors placed into LA rivers, bogues and bayous.

Drought Map from USGS 7-day average streamflows compared to historic averages
Tangipahoa Parish has stepped up to moderate drought while adjacent area to the west in Region 7 comes on the drought map at below normal.

HAB Update from National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science
The latest sat photo from NCCOS was taken Feb 21 at wind speed 5.9 mph. This image is a mostly clear view of the southeast Louisiana water bodies.

A localized HAB shows up along shore in the west bay Lac des Allemands. The HAB seen yesterday in Bayou Fortier is not visible in this image. Inland water bodies of Black Bay still show the same widespread high concentration HABs 800 to 900 thousand cells per 100 ml.

Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas, Lake Verret and Lake Palourde, Lake Cataouache, Lake Salvador, Lake Lery appear HAB-free.

Note WaterToday reports day-to-day changes recorded by USGS streamflow monitors on rivers and tributaries located in Louisiana, along with monitors upstream in the Mississippi River basin: Ohio, Georgia and southwest New York state. USGS creates a drought map from 7-day average streamflow readings, by comparing the average with the historic weekly normal flow value for each location. The drought ratings are below normal, moderate hydrologic drought, severe drought and extreme drought.
