Cameron Parish, Richland Parish BWAs
Water news for Thursday, March 7, 2024 10 am CST
Drinking Water Advisories
Cameron Parish Waterworks District 11 issued a BWA following a water outage Wednesday. Customers connecting between Boones Corner and Mallard Lane including side roads in the Gulf Highway area are impacted by this advisory.
Richland Parish the River Road Water Works System issued a partial boil advisory Wednesday following a water main break. Customers south of Adcock Rd along Hwy 852, Buckles Rd, River Bend Loop, Bluebird Ln, Buie Dr, White Island Dr and Orchard Lane are included in the BWA.

Streamflow Situation from USGS current streamflow monitors
Seasonal normal streamflows recorded across the state Thursday with the Calcasieu River channel remaining much below normal.
No extreme high or low values are registering apart from the two flood sites.
Bayou Bodcau is down another half a foot over the last twenty-four hours, currently running a foot and a half over flood stage near Shreveport in watershed Region 1. Region 4 Sabine River remains in flood stage near Ruliff, Texas, running around the same level as yesterday.

Drought Map USGS 7-day average streamflow against seasonal average
Caddo Parish in northwest Louisiana remains in extreme drought, Webster County is still rated below normal.
Regions 2 Jackson and Winn Parishes remains at moderate drought. Region 3 Concordia Parish is at moderate drought.
Region 4 west side along the Sabine River has stepped down from moderate drought Thursday with the east side. Region 5 is rated below normal again today. Region 7 interior St Tammany Parish is rated below normal. Regions 6 and 8 remain clear of the drought map Thursday.
Hazardous Spills
Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality responds to reports made to the Emergency Spill line. A massive spill incident in November 2023 is still under investigation by the US Coast Guard, federal EPA and state DEQ authorities. A million gallons of crude oil discharged into the Gulf of Mexico from a pipeline coming off seven oil production platforms. The platforms and pipeline were shut down immediately and remain shut down as the investigators have not determined where the leak occurred. US Coast Guard personnel told WTLA.us that there is no update on the case, it remains under investigation. A recent report investigated by LDEQ involved an unknown amount of diesel fuel spilled at a boat launch in Amelia in the month of February. Spills are tagged in pink by location on the maps and listed under the spill button to the right of the map.
USGS Provisional Data Statement
Data are provisional and subject to revision until they have been thoroughly reviewed and received final approval. Current condition data relayed by satellite or other telemetry are automatically screened to not display improbable values until they can be verified.
Provisional data may be inaccurate due to instrument malfunctions or physical changes at the measurement site. Subsequent review based on field inspections and measurements may result in significant revisions to the data.
