Amite, Comite, Tickfaw and Tangipahoa Rivers running below normal in Region 7 watershed
Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS streamflow gauges in Louisiana
Below normal streamflows gathering in Region 7 watershed, east Louisiana midweek. The Comite, Amite, Tickfaw and Tangipahoa River are all recorded at below seasonal normal level this hour. Region 3 has even lower water volume, Chemin-a-haut Bayou, Bayou Macon, Boeuf River and Tensas River all recorded below the tenth percentile, these are in the top 10 lowest water levels recorded on this date in the 25 to 85 year history of water level measuring at these sites. Streamflows continue mostly normal in the west, a couple of lower, slower runs through Region 5 impacting Acadia and Evangeline Parishes, likely still in a drought rating. USGS is undergoing maintenance on their system, the drought map is currently unavailable. No flooding or high flows, no extreme low flows 1st percentile recorded as of this report.

Lac des Allemands appeared with a large localized HAB on the east shore, 100 thousand cells per ml. Bayou Fortier was cloud obscured. Lake Cataouache and Lake Salvador were both cloud obscured, no HAB activity noted in the prior image Sep 29. Lakes Verret and Palourde were completely cloud obscured in the Sep 30 image. The previous image Sep 29 showed Lake Verret widespread HAB in the south of the water body at high concentration 800 thousand to 1 million cells per ml. Lake Palourde widespread HABs had at that time settled into the north half of the water body matching concentration color scale for 800 thousand cells per ml. Black Bay widespread HAB was visible in the Sep 30 image, high concentration 900 thousand cells per ml. See the latest satellite image of southeast LA water bodies, here.
