Impacting Caddo-Bossier-Webster-Claiborne-Union Parishes
Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS in Louisiana
Calcasieu River is no longer flooding near Glenmora, as of this report, running well below minor flood stage and receding. According to the USGS provisional data recorded over the last 24 hours, flooding ended right around 830 pm last night.
Partly sunny, high 56 for New Orleans Friday. Streamflows remain a mixed bag, a bit of everything going on from an extreme low in Boeuf River in Region 3 to two stations reporting below the 10th percentile in the northwest, Region 1 watershed, to one station recording 92nd percentile in Region 5 and all flow ratings in between.
Extreme drought remains on the Bayou Macon-Tensas River channel in watershed Region 3. Region 1 watershed's West Bossier Parish below normal rating has been extended to south Bossier and neighboring Webster Parish overnight. The remaining watersheds of Louisiana are not rated with any degree of drought.
WT HAB Tracker from the HAB early detection satellite monitoring program run by National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS)
The latest image upload from NCCOS was captured Nov 28 at a higher wind speed than the prior image, 8.1 mph with a lot of cloud cover and no HAB visible. Wind above 4 mph makes for an unreliable estimate of the HAB extent as the blooms become submerged out of sight. The image provided Nov 27 was gathered at a wind speed of 1 mph, we saw widespread HAB in the south half of Lake Palourde at 600 thousand cells per ml. Black Bay widespread HAB was also visible, concentration 400 thousand cells per ml.
Safe Drinking Water Advisories
