Drought clearing off Region 3
Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS river monitors in Louisiana
Overcast, 74 degrees in New Orleans, 60% chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain coming before 11am. New precipitation up to half of an inch possible today. Mostly cloudy in the northwest this hour, slight chance of rain, high 59 degrees.
The number of streamflow monitoring sites recording water levels above the 90th percentile has doubled overnight. Nine monitoring sites throughout central Louisiana are currently rated much above seasonal normal with the east side running water levels above seasonal normal. Calcasieu River continues to flood near Glenmora in watershed Region 4, and one tributary in Region 5 runs 99th percentile. Extreme drought has come off Region 3 for the first time in months. The Bayou Macon-Tensas River channel is down to moderate drought Tuesday with adjacent area to the east state line still rated severe drought. Moderate drought remains along the Ouachita River channel running through central Union Parish through central Ouachita and central Caldwell Parishes in Region 3 watershed. Parts of Region 3 rated below normal yesterday have been unrated overnight, no longer below normal. Region 1 watershed has downgraded drought status also, the moderate drought covering Webster Parish is down to a below normal rating. Regions 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 watersheds are unrated for drought.
Safe Drinking Water Advisories
St Martin Parish: Breaux Bridge - Cecilia Water Corporation issued a boil advisory last week for residents connecting from the intersection of Highway 678 near 2747 Grand Point Highway to I-10. Cecilia Water Corporation provides potable water to 12,249 customers in St. Martin Parish from a groundwater source in watershed Region 5.
Orleans Parish: New Orleans had some customers in the East water distribution system were under BWA last week following a water main break on Wednesday. Customers connecting on Morrison Road from Poitevent Ave. to Paris Road, Paris Road from Morrison Rd. to Hayne Boulevard, Hayne Boulevard from Paris Road to 9600 Hayne Blvd. and Poitevent Avenue from Irby Street to Morrison Road were impacted by this order.
