NWS: Dense fog advisory for New Orleans

Visibility less than 1/4 mile in dense fog in portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi. Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of
distance ahead of you.

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
New Orleans: A precautionary BWA has been issued following a loss of water pressure in the distribution lines, impacting:
- Florida Avenue from Inner Harbor Navigation Canal to the Parish line
- Parish line from Florida Avenue to the Mississippi River
- The Mississippi River from the Parish line to the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal
- Inner Harbor Navigation Canal from the Mississippi River to Florida Avenue
Water pressure has been restored, the impacted areas are to boil water intended for consumption and hygiene for at least one minute. Water testing will indicate when the BWA can be removed.
Bossier Parish: A BWA was issued Dec 12 for customers of the River Point System after a routine test turned up E. coli bacteria. River Point Water System serves 45 people from a groundwater source in the Carrizo Aquifer.
Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS monitoring sites in Louisiana
Fog/mist, 66 degrees with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm, high 75. Shreveport reports light rain, 63 degrees with 60% chance of rain showers and possibly a thunderstorm before noon.
Streamflows have taken a downward turn overnight, seasonal normal water levels dipping below and even much below normal throughout the eight watershed regions of the state. Sabine River continues to flow below the 10th percentile from Burkeville to Bon Wier. Moderate drought remains in Region 3 through Claiborne, Union and Lincoln Parishes midweek. Surrounding area in Region 3 remains below normal. Region 1 watershed continues below normal through Webster and Bossier Parish, and following the Red River and Bayou Pierre south, downstream through de Soto and Sabine Parishes.
WT HAB Tracker from the satellite surveillance program of the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS)
The latest satellite image from NCCOS was captured yesterday, Dec 17 at a surface wind speed 3.2 mph, again, mostly cloud obscured. Widespread bluegreen algae is again observed in Black Bay, the concentration is higher over the last 24 hours, up from 400 thousand cells per ml to 700 thousand. The image captured Dec 15 showed the west bay of Lac des Allemands with two widespread HABs matching the color scale for concentration at 500 thousand cells per ml.
