Surface water levels in decline
Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS monitoring sites in Louisiana
Streamflows are heading downward, more stations reporting below normal to much below seasonal normal, one location at 2nd percentile rated low. Regions 1 to 3 in the northwest are running 1st percentile to 63rd percentile, the highest water level found in Chemin-a-haute Bayou near Beekman, the low showing up in Little Corney Bayou near Lillie. Region 4's Sabine River continues to run much below seasonal normal water levels. Normal streamflows are recorded in Region 8 and the west side of Rgion 7. Moderate drought has given way to a below normal rating in Region 3, relieving Claiborne, Union and Lincoln Parishes. Sabine River channel continues below normal through the west side of Region 4 watershed. Evangeline and Acadia Parishes continue below normal in Region 5. Central Washington Parish has accelerated to moderate drought overnight, joined by neighboring Tangipahoa Parish today rated below normal. Region 1 watershed Bossier Parish remmains below normal.
Fair, 61 degrees in New Orleans, becoming sunny with high around 67 Monday. Overcast in the northwest, Shreveport local forecast office reporting 56 degrees, heading for a sunny day and high 66, no rain in the forecast.
Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Bossier Parish: Plain Dealing BWA has been rescinded. The BWA issued last week Thursday after an electrical wire was cut. The resulting loss of power and pressure necessitated a precautionary BWA for the village.

WT HAB Tracker from the satellite surveillance program of the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS)
The latest satellite image from NCCOS was captured Dec 22 at a surface wind speed 15.5 mph, aclear image of the southeast water bodies. Black Bay shows up with extensive bluegreen algae with concentration around 400 thousand cells per ml. A previous image caught Dec 18 at a lower wind speed revealed lakewide bluegreen algae bloom in Bayou Fortier and Lac des Allemands. It is possible the high wind conditions may have submerged the algal mat below the surface. High wind does not make for a reliable assessment of the HAB extent.
