Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS monitoring sites in Louisiana

Streamflows remain much above seasonal statewide New Year's Day with three stations flooding in the reference network.

As of noon yesterday, Sabine River is flooding the Texas-Louisiana border in Calcasieu Parish. The current provisional data from USGS shows the flow around 4 inches over flood stage at more than 17 thousand cubic feet per second near Starks. The flood water does not appear to be rising. Bayou Dorcheat is up higher overnight, a foot and a half above flood stage near Springhill. Calcasieu River continues to flood in Region 4 near Glenmora, down three inches overnight, currently observed at a foot and four inches over the channel.

The last of the drought has been erased from the Louisiana map overnight. Region 7 joins the rest of LA watersheds drought free for New Year's Day. Pearl River channel is no longer rated below normal through east Washington and St. Tammany Parishes.

Fair, 59 degrees in New Orleans with a sunny New Year's Day high 61 degrees. Shreveport forecast center reports fair and 50 degrees, a sunny clear New Year's Day expected, high 57.
