Prairie Ronde water service outage and BWA
Safe Drinking Water Advisories
St. Landry Parish: Prairie Ronde Water System announced a service outage following discovery of a leaking water main on Sunday. As of the last update, the leak had been located yesterday and repairs were to commence the same day. Following the restoration of service, customers will have to boil water until lab tests determine the water supply is free of contaminants. Customers impacted by the outage and subject to BWA are those connecting north of the Dubuisson Booster Station on Highway 182. Prairie Ronde Water System provides potable water to 6090 customers from a groundwater source in watershed Region 5.
Bossier Parish: Consolidated Waterworks 1 has issued a BWA for customers connecting along HWY 614 and Stewart Road in Bossier Parish near Haughton following a water main break on the weekend. The Consolidated Waterworks 1 serves 1070 customers from a groundwater source in watershed Region 1.
Streamflow Situation from the network of monitoring stations of the US Geological Survey in Louisiana
Three stations record active flooding in Louisiana out of 12 floods in the national network. Bayou Dorcheat had been back in the channel for a few days, back to flooding on the weekend, currently nine to ten inches over the channel near Springhill in Region 1. Calcasieu River has been flooding near Glenmora since December 28. It was looking like flooding was subsiding last week, the flow trend was dropping with anticipation of being back in the channel by now, however, more rain on the weekend lifted that river well above flood stage, currently near two feet over the banks and still rising in watershed Region 4. Sabine River is also flooding in Calcasieu Parish, the water level has increased from the level trend of six inches over, now closer to a foot over.
The National Weather Service has not forecast any more rain for Louisiana in the next day or two, keep watch on the front page map for water levels updated daily, black tags indicate the active flooding. Just one area of LA appears with a drought rating, the 7-day average streamflows in Region 7's Tangipahoa River have been low enough to earn a below normal rating for most of Tangipahoa Parish.
