Flooding has ended in Region 1 near Springhill

Streamflow Situation from the network of monitoring stations of the US Geological Survey in Louisiana
Streamflows continue at normal to above seasonal normal throughout the eight watershed regions of Louisiana Friday with two stations remaining above flood stage. In Region 1, Bayou Dorcheat got back inside the channel around 545 am, ending three weeks of flooding near Springhill. With seven actively flooding stations observed in the USA today, two of these are in Louisiana. Calcasieu River continues to overflow near Glenmora, peak flow occurred on Wednesday late afternoon, the water level has slowly been coming down since. As of this report, less than two feet of flood water is spilling out of the channel in Calcasieu Parish, Region 4. Sabine River remains in flood stage, the water level fluctuates up and down throughout each day, running seven to ten inches out of the channel in Calcasieu Parish, also in Region 4 watershed.

Mostly cloudy in New Orleans Friday, 65 degrees with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight, mainly between 4am and 5am. A few clouds, 51 degrees in Shreveport on the way up to 61, a slight chance of showers coming between noon and 3pm.

Safe Drinking Water Advisories
Acadia Parish: Town of Church Point Water System issued a BWA Wednesday for customers on MLK Dr., Chicot Alley, Green Alley, Wilson, Candy, Vallery, Amy, Joseph, Hicks, Mesh, and Nest Point until further notice. Town of Church Point serves 4176 residents from a groundwater source in Region 5 watershed.

St James Parish: St James Water District 2 issued a boil water advisory Wednesday for customers of Magnolia Heights in Vacherie. St James WD 2 serves 7513 residents from a surface water source in watershed Region 6, the raw water is obtained from an intake in the Mississippi River, treated and distributed at the Vacherie water treatment facility.
