Safe Drinking Water Advisories
St. Landry Parish: A contractor punctured a water line in Opelousas Monday, resulting in a drop in the water pressure supplying Opelousas General Health System South Campus and Clos du Bois subdivision. The impacted connections are under a precautionary boil water order until further notice. More to follow.
Orleans Parish: New Orleans East and Lower Ninth Ward water pressure was impacted by a pump malfunction at the Carrollton plant on Monday. The loss of pressure in the distribution system require a precautionary boil water advisory be issued for impacted customers. The BWA has since been rescinded.
The new EPA quarterly compliance report is out, including the new Serious Violator list. Louisiana has 124 Serious Violator drinking water facilities out of total 1263 active facilities with SDWA permits as of the last audited quarter, ended Sep 30, 2024. WTLA.us summary report is in progress, more to follow. See the prior report here, how drinking water facility compliance in Louisiana compared with Ohio, New York, Georgia and California in the last quarter, here.
Streamflow Situation from the network of monitoring stations of the US Geological Survey in Louisiana
Streamflows remain lower midweek, another low rating has appeared in Region 8 watershed, joining three sites in Region 3 and one extreme low flow level found in Region 7 yesterday. Sabine River continues to flood in Calcasieu Parish, still seven inches over the channel. Provisional date show Tickfaw River at an extreme high, 99th percentile at Holden, a foot and a half below flood stage. It appears the data have been erratic over the last hour, this is likely a sensor malfunction, more to follow. The Sabine River flood is one of fifteen floods monitored in the USA on the USGS network today.
See the front page map for water levels updated daily, the black tag indicate the location of active flooding, red-brown tags indicate 1st percentile, extreme low flows.
