Streamflow Situation from the network of USGS streamflow gauges in Louisiana
Rivers and bayous run normal to above normal throughout Louisiana Thursday with a record high level recorded on Big Creek in watershed Region 2. At 6.39 ft deep, this is higher than recorded on any Sept 5 in 81 years of monitoring. The water volume coming down the Tangipahoa River, still flowing at a low level, contributing to the ongoing drought in Tangipahoa Parish, currently rated severe. The Tensas River channel is rated extreme low in watershed Region 3.
HAB Tracker from the satellite early detection research program of the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS)
Lake Pontchartrain shows clear of HABs again in the latest satellite image from NCCOS, this one dated Sept 4 and taken at a surface wind speed 9.6 mph. Lake Maurepas shows clean and clear as well. Lac des Allemands and Bayou Fortier continue with lakewide HAB at the extreme high concentration lakewide, 3 to 4 million cells per ml.
